Hello there everyone! ^_^

Happy Holidays to you! I hope you're all having a wonderful time right now and that you're enjoying this season with friends and family! Ah! This is definitely one of my favorite times of the year and its usually about now that I start to feel festive. I suppose that leads me to this image, eh? ^_^

Well I began the sketch of this a few weeks ago, which I later posted in my scraps gallery:



I mentioned in the description of that piece, that the idea just came to me one day when I was walking home. But then again, I suppose it really began with last year's holiday image as seen here:



In short, this new image is a follow up to the painting above, which had my dear Teana bringing a little holiday cheer to our beloved Pharaoh Atemu/Atem aka Yami!

Heh, I guess this is a sort of game that these characters are playing with each other now! Last year, Teana surprised Yami with her sexy Santa outfit, and though she probably meant to do the same this year, I suppose turnabout is fair play in Yami's mind; for he decided to surprise *her* with some holiday role playing of his own!

I wanted this to be a fun, playful, and maybe even a sexy image of Yami and Teana. For those who are unfamiliar with the character, Teana , in part, is my rendition of a past life version of Tea Gardener aka Anzu Masaki.

And yet, one version of the character of Teana, (who looked EXACTLY like the real Anzu Masaki!) was, in fact, mentioned briefly in a video game called "Yu-Gi-Oh: Forbidden Memories," for the Playstation. And though I've mentioned this many times in my previous works, in essence, I took the liberty of recreating "Teana" (beginning with her character design) for the sake of my own written work; my fan-fiction: "Transcending Memories: A Bond Unsealed:

Though this writing is still a work in progress, within the story I attempt to describe not only the life, personality and background of my rendition of Teana, (a history that I created myself, mind you) but also the relationship and the various influences that she had in the young Pharaoh's life. As of this writing, I've only revised 4 of the 11 chapters that I began years ago.... I still have a LONG LONG way to go before this work is completed, but it is something that I'd like to see through the end, if at all possible. Even if this is a fan-fiction, it's one that means a great deal to me; one that I invested a lot of time and energy into..... I suppose I can even say that a little bit of my own heart is in this work....

Getting back to the image, however, though I have Teana in a Santa suit, much like last year's image, this is a slightly modified version. Additionally, I have Teana's hair up in a ponytail, which, as I'll later describe in my writing, is a look that Yami seems to prefer; another reason why her hair is pinned upward while wearing her formal wear as seen here:

Moving right along, it was quite challenge coming up with an outfit for Yami. I wanted it to be kind of sexy, yet still festive and relevant to the "game" that Teana began last year with her holiday related attire. So in the end, I decided on this elf outfit for him. He's certainly not one to be caught unaware twice, now is he? At least using the same "strategy" (which Teana may need to rethink next year....) so I wanted a bit of a role reversal from last year's image, with Teana being the one surprised this time! To continue with the theme, I purposefully gave her a similar expression to the one Yami had last year as well!

I've had a few questions about what's happening with Teana's hand and Yami's shirt... Though I will admit to using reference to create this image (though of course I DID draw and hand paint this image myself!) I thought that I'd leave whatever 's happening between them open to interpretation! Or perhaps I'll elaborate in an image next Christmas!

And finally a few words about the background.... Since the story of Teana and Yami of course takes place in Ancient Egypt, I didn't want to have to deal with any historical inaccuracies with a Christmas related scene. Plus, I really enjoyed last year's more decorative approach with the snow flakes, ribbons and holly! So this year I thought I'd also continue with that trend and have even more decorative elements; hence the reason for the ribbons, tree branches and ornaments. That way, I can still have a bright, colorful background that emphasizes the theme of the holiday, (which is still my primary goal) while also avoiding an actual scene within their ancient environment. ^_^
