Chibi Scouts Image 1: 3-00

Hello again everyone, ^_^

Since I was posting older work earlier today, I thought I'd post a few more pieces that I managed to dig up from years ago. ^_^ Heh, it's a bit strange seeing them after so many years now, but even if it has been a long time since I originally drew them, I find that I'm still rather satisfied with them for the most part. Of course there's quite a few things that I'd do differently today, but I find that they're still presentable enough to post them among my other works here. I hope that you'll agree maybe?

This first piece was completed on March 13, 2000. It was an illustration of sorts for my dear friend Will, who goes by the name "Tuxedo" Will. Perhaps some of you Sailor Moon fans have heard of him? He's been writing AMAZING fanfiction for years now and he's still going strong too! In fact, he recently mentioned that he'd be writing even more Sailor Moon fan fiction (specifically another installment for the story that I illustrated for above) which I suppose inspired me to find these old works in the first place.

Getting back to the image, however, I attempted to illustrate a scene early on in the sequel to "Adventures of the Chibi Scouts," the "Adventures of the Chibi Scouts II."

This story takes place during the "Super S" arc of the Sailor Moon saga, in which Chibi Usa/Rini is in communication with Pegasus, though she is also having some conflicting thoughts in regards to her "training" in the past. The fanfiction itself takes some liberties with the time line however, especially when compared to the events of the original "Chibi Scouts" story.

Without giving too much away, I suppose the image is rather self-explanatory. I had wanted to depict Chibi Usa's conflict as read from the quote that I included with the image. In doing so, I included not only Chibi Usa herself, but also Neo-Queen Serenity, Usagi, Pegasus, and for a little balance in the image, I also added the orb in which Chibi Usa used to communicate with Pegasus within the series.

This image was done long before I established myself with water color paints, so instead, back then, I used colored pencils instead. Oddly enough though, it seems that I still applied them in the same way that I would have done with paints, meaning that I would have probably added the same shadows and highlights and such if I had been using paints then. Perhaps it was a foreshadowing of what I would be doing later in life? ^_^;
