Hello everyone! ^_^
How are you? Gosh! It's been a little while hasn't it? Well.... it's been a while since I posted a fully painted deviation at least. I have actually been posting a number of sketches in my Scraps gallery in the last few weeks, so if you haven't seen them, please do so! ^_-
Speaking of sketches, this painting is the finished version of one that I posted recently:
In a nutshell, this image has my rendition of Neftis, the original character created by my dear dear friend .
I mentioned this in the sketch posted in the link above, but was a great help to me in another image that I completed earlier this year! I also really liked the design of her character Neftis so both for fun, and as a thank you, I thought that I'd try my hand at depicting her lovely character! And I must say, I certainly did have a lot of fun drawing and painting this image! And I sincerely hope that you like it, girl! This one's for you!
Of course I also depicted our beloved Yami aka Pharaoh Atemu/Atem in this image. According to the history that created for her character, both Yami and Neftis shared a past in Ancient Egypt; one that may have been romantic even! Please visit her site for further details! ^_-
She requested that I depict a tender moment between Yami and Neftis; namely having the two walking together throughout the land. Since I wanted to paint another landscape for the sake of the image, I decided to use the Avenue of the Sphinxes, which of course is a real landmark, still seen in Egypt today! For anyone who's more knowledgable about Ancient Egypt, I admit to being uncertain about whether or not this site was present during the dynasty in which the character of Yami was supposed to have been from. I neglected to research it, and in truth, I just wanted an excuse to paint this landscape, whether it was accurate or not. It was certainly challenging, and the amount of detail was probably the main reason why it took me so long to complete this image too. But I do hope that the result was well worth the wait!!
As always, the image was done using opague water color paints! Thanks for looking everyone! Take care!
Love,
