This painting is, in fact, my very first attempt at drawing Yami Yugi which I completed in late 2002. Also completed in opague water color, the image depicts the Duel monster Exodia as well as the Egyptian God Osiris (Slifer). This piece was also originally a commission work for my good friend Patrick.
AWESOME!! I hope Yami's in the new movie... At least in a flashback. xD He was always the MC of YGO to me. <3
Oh yes, I TOTALLY agree! If Yami isn't in the film I will RIOT! Anyways, thanks for commenting!
(( This is a really beautiful image of Yami and it's wonderful how you put so many details into it~! ^^ You're really good at doing folds, textures, lighting, and shadows. <3 I also love how your backgrounds are equally wonderful as your foregrounds, such as how Exodia and Osiris (Slifer) are beautifully done. Would it be alright if I use this image for my Big Yu-Gi-Oh! Collaboration at [link] ? If you say yes, I'll give you credit in the description! I would also remove the background with Exodia and Osiris since all art pieces submitted to the Big Yu-Gi-Oh! Collaboration need a blank background. However, it's also understandable if you say no. Please let me know what you think! ))
Thank you very much for all of your kind words. You have my permission to use my work, as long as proper credit is given. Thank you again and I wish you the best of luck with your collaboration.
this is just flat out epic slifer the sky dragon and exodia the forbidden one under the control of egypts most powerful pharoah Atem
Aw, thanks again! I'm glad you like it
That is really good!
Heh, thanks! ^_^
who is Oiris
In the original Japanese version of Yu-Gi-Oh, "Slifer" was actually called Osiris. If you ever saw Yu-Gi-Oh, the Abridged series on youtube, you might have heard them joke about "Slifer, the Executive Producer." The reason for this is the producer of the dub version IS actually named Slifer. So many people think that he wanted the English version of the monster to be named after him.
This remind me of the old times when I used to play with my friends...
My friend and sensei is very nicely done here
*U* AWESOME! I LOVE THIS! Wonder why they changed the name from Osiris to Slifer...? Maybe the Egyptian-death connotation was too much for kids (but like they'd get that or care too much anyway)? XD Anyway, rock on!
Aw, I'm flattered! I'm glad you like it! ^_^ Thank you! As for the name, much like the Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged series often jokes, I wonder if they really did change the name of the god because the executive producer of the show in English was named Slifer. I wouldn't put it past them but oh well.... Anyways, thanks again and Happy Holidays to you! ^_^
...OH! THAT'S what LK meant by naming him 'Slifer the Executive Producer!' XD It all makes so much sense now! XD I wonder if they did...and if so, why? XD It's kind of random... XP I wouldn't put it past them either... XD Happy holidays, too! Rock on!
Awesome I couldn't do anything like this if my life depended on it. As much as I love anime I can't seem to get the hang of it really.
Aw, don't say that! I mean I appreciate your compliments for my work and all but when it comes to art, it takes years and years to try to find your niche in it. I mean ironically, though I mainly use watercolor paints for my works I used to HATE watercolors when I was younger. But through a lot of trial and error and MANY years trying to get a handle on it, I found that it was a medium that I really liked. But hey, I literally do mean years of adjusting to it. Even if you look at my works here on deviantart from 2004 and 2005, I think there's even a difference in the way I paint as opposed to these days. And I was already using my paints BEFORE I joined Deviantart! Maybe I'll continue to evolve as the years go by! I sure hope so anyways. ^_^ You can always learn something new! Don't you give up either! Just keep plugging and you may surprise yourself! And most importantly, hang on to the love of what you do, for its the passion and dedication that can really make your work shine! Best wishes and thanks again! ^____^
Thanks for the pep talk but I guess the reason I think I'm not good at anime is cause most of what I've been taught through art was the classical techniques. Like impressionism, cubism, and lots of other 'isms' while that is all well and good. I'd like to try something a little more modern. I just keep being blown away by anime just the detail in the style is amazing. Like in the movie 'Spirited Away' the scenery and the way the characters are drawn seemed so realistic and gorgeous. I got into Yugioh cause of the pictures on the cards rather than just the show and manga, the monsters look so amazing and some look nightmarish. (which is why the game was banned in my school) I still can't get over the first time my mom saw me playing the game, she thought they were taro cards. Which is why I hope she doesn't find out about the Arcana(sp) Force Yugioh cards, they're based on taro cards from what I remember from GX. But I do love art more than anything and can see myself doing this for a long time. And Like wise my friend.
I'm WAY way beyond on replying but I hope that you continue with your artistic endeavors. I know what its like to see such amazing art work that you wish that you replicate. I still feel that way sometimes, but I think when you love what you do, and I don't mean this in an arrogant kind of way, but I think you'll realize that you're the only one who works in the way that you do. And if you feel that way, you can find a sense of pride in your accomplishments and that may even give you hope that someday others will appreciate your unique style too! ^_^ I think the most important thing is to hang on to your affection for the craft as that is what will propel you to move forward and to keep improving. I like to believe that everything else will fall into place if you can keep that mind set. Again, best of luck and take care now!
Ah thats alright I haven't been on in a while neither and thanks for the advice. Hmm your right about that there are plenty of art styles I'd love to try out and really I've signed up for classes at a university, they haven't responded yet, and plan to explore a lot of different mediums and styles there. Thanks for the kind words yet again and good luck with your goals as well.
